email to family:::
Heyo!!
About the ward mission plan:
Heres a couple i had additional thoughts I have added to yours-
Read Preach My Gospel as a ward !!!!!!!!!! I LOVE THIS ONE. preach my gospel is not just for missionaries, it's meant for all members. I'm not sure how you would want to implement this but I love it.
Hold a ward-wide 40-day fast (each day a different member or family signs up to fast), hold a break-the-fast missionary activity at the end. Better yet, make the break the fast on a Sunday and encourage the ward to invite friends to church that Sunday - a special Sunday to receive the blessings of the fast. That way it isn't just a "oh I fasted for missionary work to progress" but it was more like "I fasted for missionary opportunities and then I did something about it and invited someone to church." That would be way cool. Just make sure the missionaries come to your ward that Sunday (;
Have a sacrament meeting more yearly dedicated to missionary work ----- something the ward in Sidney Nebraska did that was cool was they had special "invitation sundays" where the ward knew that each family needed to invite someone to come to church that Sunday and the ward leaders planned church to be all about the Savior and the restoration of his gospel.
Have a fireside in which missionaries that have recently returned speak (invite mission president to speak, invite recent converts to share their experience)
Have a missionary concert in which missionary- related songs are performed
- these two could be the same event!! Nice.
Add missionaries phone number to bulletin- YES please do. And on the program. And even if you want you could encourage everyone in one of your activities to add it to their contacts if they don't already have it.
Have a ward missionary activity where everyone share their conversion story and missionary experiences with one another - another fun thing you could do is have fun and have an activity where members Role Play scenarios to share the gospel in normal and natural ways - see elder Uchtdorf talk as well as the new videos the church is going to put out called come and see, come and help and come and stay.
Hold a special second-hour meeting to brainstorm with ward members about how to increase our missionary efforts - this would probably be super cool and effective. Have the missionaries that cover your ward try to be there so they can help!
Man I would have loved to have you as my ward mission leader in a ward I served in! You are awesome!
Also mom, Lots of those questions from your Infinite atonement thoughts are the ones I was pondering yesterday! I'm going to do a personal study based off your email tomorrow (:
Also by the way the pranks continue....
Toothpaste Oreos didn't work the way we wanted so we
Sticky noted their whole room haha
Then we had someone's name tag put in jello hahaha
So on Tuesday we Served in the Bakery- you know I love that place haha. I especially loved it this time because we gave different tours every time. One of them was even a bakery rap... I'll show you on FaceTime haha but besides that silly tour we had some really cool ones, we taught a lot about covenants.
Wednesday we were at the Cultural hall and then family living center. I studied masonry that day! Masonry has never been my favorite subject. Not that it is a stumbling block to my testimony or anything haha but masonry and plural marriage I never understood and so it made me uncomfortable! Well all day I studied masonry and pondered it. It was a faith building experience! So if you have any questions about plural marriage or masonry, I'm probably the one haha. I don't have all the answers but I actually understand it now.
Thursday we were at the wilford Woodruff home. Such a sweet spirit there. My favorite tour was with a dad and daughter on a father daughter trip. We talked about how Woodruff lost their daughter but phebe says how the Lord stood by her and had an awesome conversation with how the Lord has stood by their family. So cool.
Friday we were all over the place haha. We were Roving, at the vc, Lyon drug, and at Browning gun. Crazy day. We also helped some sisters get their Sunday school lesson ready on a PowerPoint. I didn't feel like we had accomplished much at the end of the day but those sisters were so grateful it was worth it.
Saturday!
Gifford s Nielsen and his wife were here for a mission tour! I didn't give him a tour at any of the sites but I got to have a couple conversations with him, shook his hand and listened to his trainings (: his wife is way cool too I love her. Here are a couple quotes I loved from this weekend:
"He doesn't want us to be average. He didn't send us here to be average. He sent us to be noble and great. He wants us to be successful."
Elder Nielsen
"Heavenly Father has given you hearts that love."
Sister Nielsen
"The NFL is the tool of the devil."
Elder Nielsen
"History continues to be made here." President Lusvardi
"The more profound the obstacle the more profound the miracle.
I know that this is the gospel of miracles.
You've seen miracles, I've seen miracles and you'll continue to see miracles.
Because this is the gospel of miracles."
Elder Neilsen
President Nelson, what do you think about during the sacrament?
"Only Him."
President Nelson
Sunday we served at the Print shop, and I got to answer some people's questions about Muslims and then teach a young man how to use technology for good. Then we had dinner with the wadleys!! She was the one that was in 17 miracles, we had an awesome dinner and come follow me study session with them (:
But yeah! That's kinda my week! Can't wait to talk to you
Love,
Sister Bush
